Toll Troll trying to regenerate

October 7, 2011

Any nerd worth his salt knows that Trolls regenerate. Why should the Toll Troll be any different? Once again we see that dead doesn’t mean dead.

The TCA (Transportation Corridor Agencies) was told by the California Coastal Commission and, more importantly, by the people that their proposed toll road wasn’t kosher. https://pangeanative.wordpress.com/2008/02/08/san-onofre-we-won/

So what did they do? What any good 3-year-old does. Ignore everyone and just do what they want to do.

“What?” you say.

Yup. They have decided to just piecemeal the project.

“Is this legal?” you say.

Nope.

“Will it work?” you ask.

I hope not. These guys couldn’t even get the Bush Administration to sign off on this thing with the “We need it for National Defense” argument. But, every time this stuff comes up there is a chance that things go horribly wrong. They are counting on complacency. We haven’t gone anywhere and there arguments hold less water now than they did before.

“So why are they doing this?” you ask.

Well… I’m a nobody. I know what I read and what I heard during two protests. During one of those protests a young lawyer came up to me and said that I should give up because it was “already a done deal. ” It obviously wasn’t a done deal in the sense that it was a legal deal. But, somewhere someone or group of people have obviously been handing promises or money around so that they can’t quit. I’m betting it has something to do with big money developers.

You can count on two things here. We, the crazy, green, tree-huggers,  aren’t going anywhere and the Toll Troll isn’t either.

They’ll talk about jobs and how their project will give lots of jobs… But I ask you this. Do you think they are looking for the solution that provides the most jobs for the longest period of time? Of course not. They want the least jobs for the shortest period of time so their profits are higher.

They can come up with other solutions. We put a man on the moon. We can do this.

The solution will give more long-term jobs and that’s what the Toll Troll (TCA) _doesn’t_ want.

Toll Troll at it again!

Here’s a tired surfer sitting through hours of people telling the feds why “the 241” isn’t needed..

San Onofre… We Won!!

February 8, 2008

Yesterday, Feb 6th, I stood for 14 hours with a big cardboard sign trying to be heard by the California Coastal Commission regarding the Toll Road proposed to slice through San Onofre State Park.

Going in it looked like a close vote… either 6-4 for the project.. or 5-5 … word was that one commissioner was on the fence.. and we needed that one to stop the project. After the biggest public attendance to one of these meetings EVER the vote went 8-2 against!!

Thank you Coastal Commission for doing a wonderful job. These people aren’t paid to do what they do… The labor union guys that the TDA (toll road) people brought in (and who left at 2pm when their shift was done) made more money that day the the commissioners.. Thank you California Coastal Commission for enduring that and for running a good meeting in trying conditions.

 Well done!

I’ll get some links posted to this page soon with pictures and such.. but right now I’m gonna go celebrate some more.

The next step for the toll road is to appeal… and Bush man (the president guy) has the power to trump the commission.. which he did recently with the Navy’s sonar program that kills sea animals.. namely whales and dolphins… a program deemed necessary to train to find “silent subs” that our enemy has.. I wasn’t aware of the fleet of silent subs that Al Qaeda has. I guess that’s one of those top secrets.

Anyway.. it’s a good day.

The news cast didn’t make me sound that bad… I’m near the end of the video.. actually you can see me in the beginning and end too.. it’s easy to see my skinny legs… but I speak with about 40 seconds left in the clip.

Here’s another local news cast … if you watch the video you can see me looking like a total kuk drifting into the TV’s lineup.
